08 - Identity and Alignment: How to Stop Living for Validation
Manage episode 509122001 series 3638855
In this episode of the Tattooed Truth Podcast, I dive deep into identity and the masks we wear. For so much of my life, I shaped myself to fit in, to be loved, validated, or accepted. Whether it was being the caretaker, the funny one, or the rebel, I learned to mold myself into whatever role I thought was needed.
I share my personal stories of how these identities impacted my relationships, friendships, and even dangerous situations I found myself in. From peer pressure to people-pleasing, I reveal how easy it is to betray yourself just to feel like you belong.
We talk about why we put these masks on, how ego keeps us stuck, and why our nervous system knows when we’re not being true to ourselves. Most importantly, I’ll share what it takes to peel back those layers, feel safe in your authenticity, and finally choose an identity that is rooted in your truth and not in what others expect.
[00:00:57] How much of your identity is truly you vs the mask you wear
[00:02:15] Who did you need to be as a child to feel love and value?
[00:07:32] Becoming exactly what others wanted me to be (and the danger of it)
[00:10:30] Peer pressure, drinking, and fitting into molds that never fit
[00:16:55] True safety comes from alignment with your authentic self
[00:19:35] Peeling back the layers: shadow work and finding your truth
If you’ve ever felt like you don’t even know who you really are anymore, this episode will help you recognize the patterns, reclaim your power, and step back into alignment.
