In our latest episode of The SoapyRao Show, we have the illustrious Manu Bhagavan, Professor of History, Human Rights, and Public Policy at Hunter College and the Graduate Center, the City University of New York, where he is also Senior Fellow at the Ralph Bunche Institute for International Studies. Professor Bhagavan is a specialist on modern India, focusing on the twentieth century late colonial and post-colonial periods, with particular interests in human rights, (inter)nationalism, and questions of sovereignty.

In this episode he elucidates on the emergence of nationalism in India, India’s position on the global stage, India’s role in the geopolitical power structure. We also explore questions like, what are the trends shaping modern Indian society?
