S2, E16: Grief in the Milestones: What People Don’t Talk About (with Hailey Hechtman)
Manage episode 493882422 series 3279858
This week on The Revolutionized Mind, we are joined by the wonderful Hailey Hechtman. We usually think of grief as something that comes with endings, such as death, breakups, or major loss. But we often overlook the grief that shows up in new beginnings. Inspired by Hailey’s article, “When Grief Goes Good”, we unpack how grief can quietly live in our moments of growth, success, and transformation, even when things seem to be going really well. For example, when we start a new job or move to a new city, we typically leave behind parts of ourselves or things that we love, but we aren’t always given the space to express those grievances. In this episode, we talk about what it means to hold joy and sadness at the same time, how to let go of old identities without shame, and why it’s so important to acknowledge the grief that comes with starting something new. We also discuss different ways to foster deeper dialogue around these feelings so that we can both strengthen our relationships and learn to grow alongside heavier emotions. This is an episode for anyone in transition, moving through change, or learning to let go. Grief doesn’t have to be something we hide - it can actually be a sign that we’re growing.
