Adam interviews Allen Gannett, founder and CEO of TrackMaven and author of The Creative Curve. The interview begins with Allen speaking about his own experience with creativity as a child (02:04 - 05:19) and the fallacy of waiting for a creative idea to strike (05:20 - 09:29). Allen then addresses individuals who think that they can never become creative (09:30 - 12:20) and how you can pitch creative ideas in a conservative industry (12:21 - 14:55). The discussion then turns to common fallacies about creativity (14:56 - 19:42), the importance of seeking familiar, yet novel ideas (19:43 - 21:21), and why purposeful practice is critical (21:22 - 26:38). Allen then discusses the Creative Curve itself (26:39 - 30:27) and how we can gauge where we are on the curve (30:28 - 34:52). The interview concludes with Allen discussing his four laws of the Creative Curve (34:53 - 43:04), how we can speed up the creative process (43:05 - 44:08), and his advice for people who want to start a passion project or side project (44:09 - 46:25).
