🎒 Starting secondary school is a huge milestone — for children and parents alike. In this live chat, I’m sharing everything I wish I’d known before my children moved up to Year 7, from practical tips to emotional support.
We’ll cover:
✔️ Visiting and familiarising your child with their new school
✔️ Establishing sleep and morning routines that work
✔️ Building independence (and setting safety rules)
✔️ Organising uniform, labelling essentials & avoiding lost property
✔️ The folder system that kept my eldest on top of homework
✔️ Managing homework apps, logins, and deadlines
✔️ Creating school bag stations and shared family calendars
✔️ Encouraging open communication and self-advocacy
✔️ Coping with the emotional transition (for you and your child)
As a mum of four (with children who are neurodiverse), I know how overwhelming this transition can feel. These are the systems, routines, and mindset shifts that really helped my family — and I hope they’ll help yours too.
