Good afternoon, Miami University community. Today is Monday, September 8, 2025, and here are the latest updates from our campus. Miami University is welcoming a robust incoming class of over 4,000 freshmen this fall. These students hail from 41 states, including Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico, as well as 37 countries, with a majority from Ohio. To accommodate this growth, the university has leased a new building called Hawk's Landing to meet the increasing demand for on-campus housing. Additionally, several new facilities have been introduced: a Chick-fil-A at the newly named Haines Food Court, a satellite recreation center featuring cardio and free weights at the former Martin Dining Commons on North Quad, and a new transportation hub at 97 W. Chestnut Street, set to open this month, offering expanded and more convenient routes. The university has extended its test-optional admissions policy through Spring 2026. This means that ACT and SAT scores are not required for first-year and transfer applicants, including those applying for merit scholarships and competitive programs like the Honors College, the Farmer School of Business, and Nursing. Students who wish to submit test scores can still do so. President Gregory Crawford has committed Miami University to achieving carbon neutrality by 2040. The "Miami 2040: Climate Action Plan" outlines the steps to reach this goal. Additionally, the North Geothermal Project has begun, involving the drilling of 520 geothermal wells under the Millet South Lawn, with completion expected by summer 2026. - : On September 6 at 10:30 AM, explore Oxford’s 19th-century cultural sites and historic buildings.
