This episode, Jeremy meets two editor/writers who have launched magazines. First, Maria Dimitrova discusses the magazine she has developed with co-editor Hayley Mlotek. AFM (for ‘A Fucking Magazine’ or ‘A Feeld Magazine’, take your pick!) launched last year in support of the dating app Feeld. She discusses how the magazine broadens the meaning of the brand, not simply selling the app but opening up the subjects of sex and relationships to a wider examination in subtle support of it. She also shares plans for the upcoming second issue of AFM. Then Anja Charboneau tells the story of building an indie empire. Starting in 2017 with cannabis magazine Broccoli, at first a free title, she has added Mushroom People, Catnip, Mildew and now music mag Heartbeat. She discusses working with a regular group of collaborators across multiple publications, her recipe for publishing success, and the reason she chose to close Broccoli, even as her other magazines were booming. broccolimag.com feeld.co/magazine We’re grateful to our friends at Park Communications for their support of the magCulture Podcast.
