Mary Olson, the Associate Vice President and General Manager of the KCLU Broadcast & Digital Network, played a pivotal role in the station’s inception in 1994. KCLU now offers a diverse range of NPR programs, including “Morning Edition,” “All Things Considered,” “Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me!,” and “Fresh Air.”

Under Mary’s leadership, KCLU has consistently maintained its position as the top news station in the region. This success can be attributed to her commitment to prioritizing local news for the community. Her award-winning reporters and staff, such as Lance Orozco (News Director), Caroline Feraday (Reporter and Producer), Mark Duggan (Assistant Director of Operations/Digital Coordinator), Mia Karnatz-Shifflett (Director of Member Services), Russ Maloney (Director of Programming/Operations and Morning Edition Host), Dave Meyer (Afternoon Host), and Willa Sandmeyer (Fill In Host), have contributed significantly to this achievement.

KCLU’s accomplishments have been recognized through numerous broadcasting awards, including the Golden Mike Award. The station has also received accolades for its exceptional news reporting from organizations like the Southern California Radio and Television News Association.
