"I think people are a little startled that I was potentially on my way to go to rabbinical school to become a rabbi and now I work for a cannabis distribution company. And they're like... what do those things have in common?" Ben Poretzky graduated from the University of Pennsylvania to join Intuit's Product Management Rotational Program. After 2 years, he decided to travel the world and spend time in Israel where he was studying to become a rabbi. Then after meeting an inspiring entrepreneur, he was convinced to jump back into Product Management at Rise Logistics, a cannabis logistics company. In this episode, we discuss how to think about big questions and solving problems, building empathy with your teams, giving and getting constructive feedback, working in a startup vs. a corporation, and the quirks of the cannabis industry. Ben also discusses what it was like working closely with Intuit's previous CEO, Brad Smith, who won numerous awards including one of Forbes' Influential American Leaders and Harvard Business Review's Best Performing CEOs in the World.
