Her grandmother taught her that homeless people were bumbs so she stayed away from them. Until Millie. For some reason, Karen brought Millie a sandwich. Millie thanked her and looked into her eyes. Karen crossed the line. Millie was a human being who needed help. Karen started feeding more homeless people with her 2 sons. From there, she started buying them clothing and inviting them to her home for holiday dinners. Karen's efforts branched out from NYC to her hometown. She raised awareness of the number of homeless families in her area. She brought in the churches and other religious organizations.
