At the age of 10 he had a brother, John, born prematurely and some thought John would never leave the hospital and make it home. Everyday after school Marion Edwards would go sit with John until one day he was well enough to go home. How did older brother Marion get him home? On a city bus and then he put John in his room to look after him.
When he was 11 his sister Louise wanted a piano but the parents would hear none of it. Marion went to the piano store and offered $100 for a used piano even though the asking price was $150. The owner agreed to the $100 but Marion said there was a catch - he did not want his parents to know he bought the piano so the owner had to say Louise won it in a contest. Did she learn to play? Well enough to be on the verge of being accepted into Julliard at 16 but then their mother died and she ended getting married instead.
Many of us in looking back may ask ourselves 'did we make the world a better place and did we make a difference in people's lives?' Once you hear Judge Edwards' story you will have no doubt that he did!
