New year. Fresh start. And maybe you're sitting down right now thinking, This is it. This is the year I get serious about my language learning.

You want to set goals. You want to make progress. You want to finally feel like you're getting somewhere.

But here's the thing — every time you've done this before, one of two things happens.

Either you set the bar too high — I'm going to be fluent by June, I'm going to study two hours a day — and you burn out before February even ends.

Or you set the bar too low — I'll just try to do something when I have time — and months go by without any real progress. And you feel stuck.

In this episode, we're talking about how to set language learning goals that don't burn you out. Why traditional goal-setting doesn't work for language learning. And how to design goals that actually fit your life and move you forward without breaking you.

You'll learn why outcome-based goals set you up to fail — and what to focus on instead. How to build process goals that measure connection, not hours. Why flexibility is what makes goals sustainable. How to align your goals with how you actually want to use the language. And how to check in and adjust as your life changes.

Your goals don't have to look like anyone else's. You don't have to be fluent by June. You don't have to study two hours a day. You just have to stay connected to the language in a way that works for you.

Progress doesn't have to be fast to be real. It just has to be yours.
