We’re starting back up after our hiatus on a more serious note, so we’ll give you the trigger warning that this episode contains discussion of suicidal ideation. It won’t be all doom and gloom though. While we are discussing depression and the struggles that lead to self-destructive thoughts our goal in this episode is to find ways to quiet the noise and find reasons to keep going. If you’ve ever experienced these thoughts yourself then you know clichés and toxic positivity generally aren’t enough, and they can even leave you feeling frustrated, invalidated, and even more alone.

We’ve been there ourselves and we know how painful, difficult, and isolating it is to experience these thoughts and feelings. Join us as we react to some of the advice the internet has to offer and give our opinions on whether or not it’s actually effective. There will be some serious discussion, some heartfelt moments, and a little bit of gallows humor, and we hope it will help you feel less alone and less stigmatized.

If you are struggling with suicidal ideation right now, please don’t feel like you have to suffer in silence. Please find trusted people that you can talk to and lean on for support. If that feels too intimidating or you don’t feel like you have anyone in your life you can discuss this with, please contact the suicide hotline in your area, the phone number to call or text in the USA is 988. Stay with us. There are reasons to keep going even if you can’t see them right now.
