In this solo episode, I unpack what developers mean when they say, “We don’t collect or store your data.” This commentary was sparked by my recent interview with the creator of Air Out!, an app designed to let users share what they’re feeling — anonymously. When I downloaded the app, it asked for my email and a confirmation code. I started to question what “anonymous” and “private” mean in an app.

In this episode I also explore what a truly anonymous chat space might look like - whether platforms such as Telegram can be configured to create that — if you know how to use the settings properly.

In a personal story, I share how I learned the hard way how vulnerable online accounts can be. After $20,000 was stolen from my PayPal account, I started using authentication apps. I explain how I use a separate device (my old phone) for authentication, and how that one small change gave me back the confidence to use PayPal securely.

This episode is for anyone curious about digital privacy, anonymous apps, or protecting yourself online in a world that says “we don’t store or collect your data”. That often means something different entirely.
