Matthew 3:2
Repent of your sins and turn to God for the Kingdom of heaven is near
Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God.
I don't know about you, but when I heard the term "repent" as a child, it always seemed so judgmental, harsh, and self-righteous. Despite the fact that what the word implies—that you should repent—is a positive thing and a sign of maturity. However, I continued to feel that the word "repent" caused more harm than good. I didn't start to fully understand how powerful that word is until I knew what it meant and where it came from.
So the word repent is used to translate the greek word Metanoia. And that word has nothing to do with describing your spiritual status or wether you are a good person or a bad person. It means to change how you think, to see things differently.
Understanding this could be a game changer for many folks. Because now these words start to take life and you can start applying these principles without being confused.
For example when we look at Matthew 3:2 When John is telling everyone to “Repent of your sins and turn to God” What he is saying is …Change the way you think about all the wrong you are doing in your life and turn to God.
Now that’s some practical wisdom we can apply today in our lives, God Bless and see you in the next episode.
