In this week's episode of The Bible You Thought You Knew, we dive deep into the tale of Saul and how he became Israel's legitimate king.

As you might already know, technically, Saul was not Israel's first king. That title goes to Abimelech.

However, king Abimelech was a tyrant and a usurper, and his kingship had nothing to do with God.

Which is exactly why Saul is regarded as Israel's first legitimate king.

But, who was Saul exactly? And how did he come into his power?

I answer these questions in today's episode of The Bible You Thought You Knew, so tune in now!

Key points discussed

How Saul's story begins (02:11)

Saul and the servant go to the city (05:38)

Saul and Samuel finally meet (11:16)

Saul's answer to Samuel (13:57)

The word of God (17:21)
