This was a wonderful opportunity to speak with Holly Levanto, VP in Booz Allen’s AI practice about the current and future uses of AI. Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming military operations and strategies, offering unprecedented capabilities in areas such as surveillance, data analysis, and autonomous systems. AI-driven technologies can enhance decision-making processes, improve the precision of weaponry, and optimize logistics, leading to more efficient and effective military actions. However, the integration of AI into the military also raises ethical and security concerns, particularly regarding autonomous weapon systems and the potential for unintended consequences. As nations continue to invest in AI research and development, the future of military operations will likely be shaped by the balance between leveraging these advanced technologies and addressing the associated risks. Ultimately, the responsible use of AI in the military could lead to enhanced security and stability, but it requires careful consideration of ethical standards and international regulations.
Holly Levanto brings digital, analytics, and AI capabilities to Booz Allen clients, with more than a decade of experience supporting the Department of Defense (DOD) and other U.S. federal agencies. Her background includes working to advance digital readiness, adoption, strategy, workforce, and data-driven organizational transformation. In leading the delivery of AI domains, Holly applies a breadth of expertise spanning resilience, human performance, military readiness, health, and operations.
As an AI adoption lead for Booz Allen’s chief technology team, Holly oversees the delivery of advanced solutions to enable the AI and digital transformation of U.S. defense organizations. In this role, she leads acceleration of digital and AI adoption for key DOD mission commanders operating worldwide. She oversees a team that is translating new data analytics capabilities into decision advantage for the warfighter at the edge in pursuit of Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2). In addition, she drives the firm’s strategy and engagement of solutions in DOD’s Chief Digital and AI Office.
