EP 9: INTERVIEW WITH MUSIC COMPOSER TANGELENE BOLTON

This week on SyncRiffs, Charles interviews music composer Tangelene Bolton for AAPI heritage month.⚡️

Tangelene Bolton (she/her) is a Filipina-American film, TV, and media composer based in Los Angeles, CA. A Berklee College of Music Film Scoring graduate and a 2020 Sundance Composer Fellow, Tangelene possesses a distinct music style that is a mashup of neoclassical, electronic, folk, and jazz. She also composed the music for Disney+’s Let’s Be Tigers and Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Just a Thought, which was an official selection at the 2019 Annecy International Animation Film Festival.

Most recently Tangelene had the opportunity to score Season 3 of Comedy Central’s Awkwafina is Nora from Queens, created by Awkwafina and Teresa Hsiao. Starring Awkwafina, BD Wong, Lori Tan Chinn, and Bowen Yang, the comedy is inspired by Awkwafina’s real life growing up in Queens, NY.
