Coercive Communication is Maladaptive & Toxic | Establishing Boundaries in Response to IntimidationHow do you engage with someone who isn't used to hearing the word no?We often assume that the majority of people engage and interact with a baseline desire of being civil, but that isn't always the case.Sometimes, in conversation what you are up against is an individual who sees your personal agency and autonomy as a threat. Anyone who is comfortable making you feel uncomfortable to get their own way, is being coercive.Coercion is the most insidious form of communication because the consequence of non-compliance means having to deal with aggression, hostility, and intimidation.
