Today's episode features Shamikka Marty aka PrettySickLupusChick. She currently resides in Bay Area, California but is originally from New Jersey. She lives with her husband of 18 years, Henry and has 3 beautiful children Amaru, Alejandra and Antonio plus her 2 puppies Luna and Lilo. She graduated from Williamstown High School and earned her degree in International Business from Rutgers University. She then ventured to obtain her certification in Project Management, Scrum Master and Cybersecurity from Rutgers School of Business.

She currently works as a Cybersecurity Project Manager, Motivational Speaker, Social Media Influencer for Chronic Illness, Board member for several Organizations (Lupus Foundation of America SF, Lupus Foundation of Northern California, Director for Yathom Foundation, Rotary Club of Dublin, Paramedic Advisory Board of Northern CA, Assistance League of Amador Valley and more). She has overcome adversity since she was 10, taking care of her nana who had severe RA (bedridden for 20 yrs), her single mother who had Lupus, her uncle who has HIV. So her whole life has been apart of the chronic ill life since birth spending 2 years in the NICU for the first 2 months of her life due to heart complications as a preemie.

She was diagnosed with Lupus herself at age 30 along with several overlapping auto immune diseases (RA, MCTD, Raynaud's, Sjogren's, Scleroderma, Vasculitis, CKD, IBS, Endometriosis). She was blessed to receive a kidney transplant in 2023. All of her pain pushes her to keep moving forward and inspire others in person and especially on social media.

As a health coach, I know tracking what you do in a daily basis makes a big contribution to symptoms and flares. If you are interested in a free tracking app called Aila Health.

Like you, I’ve been hearing a lot about the health benefits of mushrooms lately. But I have zero interest in “mushroom coffee.” That’s why I started taking Bio-Avail Myco from Adapt Naturals. It’s a blend of 8 organic mushrooms—including reishi, chaga, lion’s mane, and cordyceps—in a convenient capsule form. I get the incredible benefits of mushrooms—more energy, sharper focus, and stronger immunity—without having to give up my DELICIOUS morning coffee! For a limited time, the folks at Adapt Naturals are offering my audience 15% off their first order.

Just head over to https://adaptnaturals.com/DEZ15 to learn more and get started.

If you are looking for an autoimmune support group, check on my website. I have local meetups and zoom calls. To learn more about more tips for chronic illness go to my IG page or my website

Sending lots of love and healing until next time, Stay Stronger Than Autoimmune!
