How 1 Case of Water Changed My Life
Manage episode 494068887 series 3653601
Welcome to another episode of the Strength of the Message podcast. Today, I want to share a story that is very close to my heart, a story that opened my eyes to the dire need for social support and kindness in our industry.
As I worked out at a truck stop for the week, I came across a lady carrying a case of water out to her truck. I noticed her struggling a bit, so I offered to help. "Ma'am, let me help you put that in your truck," I said. She firmly replied, "I got it." I kindly asked again, "Ma'am, let me help you, it would be easier." Once more, she insisted, "I got it."
This simple act of kindness, or rather the refusal of it, made me realize something profound. The simple act of offering help, a social interaction, a gesture of support, can reveal so much about the state of our industry. It opened my eyes to the fact that we are in dire need of social support and kindness.
Today, I want to talk about the importance of social support, building resilience to stress, and reigniting that flame and passion inside of you to do what you do. We need to step boldly forward and reignite the "why" and the purpose that lies inside of us to take care of America. But first and foremost, we must take care of ourselves. All changes that last start in the mind. You change your mind, you change your life. To sustain any success, you have to show up and think differently. That is the key to winning.
Please join in this special podcast and stay tuned as we have the American Trucking Association and the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance organization coming on board to bring us some insightful discussions. Thank you for being with us today.
