Welcome to the Story for Good podcast. My name is Lars, I’m a filmmaker based in Belgium, originally from Germany … and I believe storytelling is far more than just entertainment. It’s a powerful tool to shift mindsets, build communities, engage people on a deep emotional level—and yes, even to influence decisions and find supporters.

That’s exactly why we can’t leave the power of storytelling to those who want to maintain the status quo. Think of the fossil fuel industry, the tobacco industry, or political autocrats. They’ve mastered storytelling to protect their interests, extend their influence, and benefit financially.

As changemakers, we need to use this tool better. To tell stories that inspire action, challenge harmful narratives, and shine a light on what truly matters.

Just a few days ago, I saw again how powerful storytelling can be. I was invited by FH Europe Foundation to film inside the European Parliament in Brussels. They had scientists, doctors, even representatives from pharma—but what made the room go completely silent were the patient ambassadors. These were people living with genetic conditions who shared their personal stories. In that moment, you could hear a pin drop. Everyone was listening, everyone was moved, and you could feel the motivation in the room shifting. That’s the power of authentic storytelling.

And that’s what this podcast is about. Here, we’ll explore how storytelling can be used for good—by nonprofits, purpose-driven companies, fundraisers, scientists, politicians, and more. We’ll look at the science behind storytelling, the impact it can have, and also the ways it has been misused to block positive change.

My hope is that this podcast gives you the tools, mindset, and inspiration to outshine those who benefit from the status quo. To make storytelling your most powerful tool for change.

If that sounds exciting, I’d love for you to subscribe and join me on this journey. I can’t wait to share the first episodes with you.
