Homily given by Fr Justin on Sunday 4 May 2025.

What does it really mean to discover your purpose as a Christian?

In this homily for the Third Sunday of Easter, we explore how purpose is received, not manufactured. Unlike the secular view of crafting a personal mission, the first disciples show us that true purpose is a divine calling—freely given by God.

Fr Justin shares his personal vocation story, from resisting the call to priesthood to discovering that God’s plan aligned with his deepest desires. Learn how getting close to Jesus through Scripture, Sacraments, and prayer, living the law of gift, and embracing a lifelong process of discernment can lead you to your true identity in Christ.

Key Takeaways:

Your purpose is given by God, not self-created God’s call aligns with your deepest desires

Following your vocation makes you more you, not less

Saints show how unique and personal holiness can be

Inspired by the words of C.S. Lewis: "How monotonously alike all the great tyrants and conquerors have been: how gloriously different are the saints."
