Struggling with PCOS symptoms despite following treatment faithfully?

Are you still missing your period, feeling cold and sluggish, or gaining weight even with a healthy diet and regular exercise? Have you started to wonder, “Maybe I’m just unlucky, nothing works for me”?

You’re not alone, and you might not have PCOS. Or you might indeed have PCOS and an additional condition on top of that.

More than 23% of women diagnosed with PCOS are also diagnosed with a thyroid condition.

Many women are misdiagnosed with PCOS when they’re dealing with a thyroid condition. This mix-up is more common than you think, and it could be the reason your symptoms aren’t improving.

In this episode, I’ll help you understand how to distinguish between PCOS and thyroid disorders, so you can ensure you’re on the right path to healing.

Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • What PCOS is
  • What thyroid and autoimmune thyroid conditions are
  • Why are these two conditions often confused
  • Two common pitfalls when seeking a diagnosis
  • Key lab tests and optimal ranges for PCOS and an underactive thyroid

Getting the correct diagnosis is the first step toward effective treatment—and peace of mind.

Thyroid Tests:

  • Free T3 5-7 pmol/L.
  • Free T4 15-23 pmol/L.
  • TSH 0.5-2 μIU/mL,
  • Thyroid antibodies should both be < 2 IU/mL.
  • AT thyroglobulin
  • AT TPO

PCOS

  • Hemoglobin A1C (HbA1C)
  • Insulin
  • DHEA-S
  • ACTH
  • CRP
  • Free Testosterone (test in the first week of the menstrual cycle)
  • Estrogen
  • Progesterone (test on day 21-22 of your period)
  • Sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) (test in the first week of the menstrual cycle)
  • LH & FSH (test in the first week of the menstrual cycle)
  • Prolactin

Hey, I'm Rocsi 👋 I am a Period Recovery Nutritionist who focuses on nutrition to support and heal period problems.

In my early twenties, I was diagnosed with an autoimmune thyroid condition, a 16cm cyst on my left ovary, and a pituitary tumour. After years of learning, many courses & dozens of books & articles, I compiled the strategy that helped me heal into a simplified approach: nutrition at the core of healing period and gut problems.

I am honoured to be able to share this information and be a part of your healing.
