“Should you ever change your podcast name? I’ve just done this for the fourth time…”

I open up about one of the biggest decisions I’ve made recently — changing the name of my first and biggest show yet again. From Seven Million Bikes to A Saigon Podcast, then A Vietnam Podcast, and now Discover Vietnam, it’s been a journey of evolution, mistakes, and lessons learned.

Naming a podcast isn’t just about branding; it’s about clarity, growth, audience alignment, and sometimes even sponsorship opportunities. I wanted to share everything I’ve learned so that you can decide if changing your podcast name is the right move for you.

Key Talking Points

  • Why I’ve changed my podcast name four times, and what I learned each time
  • The risks of quirky or unclear names and why clarity matters more
  • How listener data and episode performance guided my rebrand
  • When you shouldn’t change your podcast name
  • How a new name can make your podcast more attractive to sponsors
  • Practical steps to rebrand smoothly without losing your audience

Chapters and Timestamps
