Welcome back to another soothing episode of the Sleepy Scriptures One-Year Bible, where I read the King James Version of Scripture gently, accompanied by soft, peaceful music to ease your mind and quiet your soul.
In this episode, we conclude the Gospel of Mark with chapters 12 through 16, where Jesus teaches the greatest commandments, foretells the end of the age, and endures His trial, crucifixion, and glorious resurrection. These powerful passages remind us that through His suffering, we find forgiveness and everlasting life.
Then we turn to the opening chapters of Luke, where the story of redemption begins anew. We meet Zacharias and Elizabeth, Mary and Joseph, and hear the angelic proclamation of the coming of Christ. The tender scenes of the Nativity remind us that God’s promises are fulfilled in the humblest of ways—and that His mercy reaches every heart that believes.
As you listen tonight, rest in the wonder of both the cross and the cradle—the fullness of God’s love from sacrifice to salvation.
Highlighted Verses:

  • Mark 12:30–31 — “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart… and thy neighbour as thyself.”
  • Mark 15:39 — “Truly this man was the Son of God.”
  • Mark 16:6 — “He is risen; he is not here.”
  • Luke 1:37 — “For with God nothing shall be impossible.”
  • Luke 2:10–11 — “Behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy… For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.”
  • Luke 3:22 — “And a voice came from heaven… Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.”

Let these sacred words fill your heart and bring peace to your rest, as we move from the shadow of the cross to the light of Bethlehem.
