Sheer Isolation 60 - Sally Snail
Manage episode 314149699 series 3278563
There are plans underway to turn a large, unused bandstand in the centre of Trowbridge into an active, outdoor stage for live performances this summer.
The project is being led by Sally Snail who has promoted grassroots dance, music and stage shows in Wiltshire for more than two decades through her Starry Eyes project.
She joins us on this week's Sheer Isolation to share her plans for the bandstand, how she hopes these events will bring communities back together after lockdown, and why she has chosen to fundraise for local Alzheimer's charities.
We also play two shiny new tunes... the first from Swindon three piece, All Ears Avow, and a song/poem combo from Wiltshire's own country star, Kirsty Clinch.
We also talk about how the Government's four week delay to easing restrictions has led to the cancellation of more music festivals, and how the difficulty getting events insurance is making matters worse.
This episode was created by Kieran Moore in Trowbridge and Jon Ponting in Cricklade.
Don't forget to look for us on the schedule of your local community radio station; we're on the airwaves in Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Somerset.
