Both Sarah Michelle Gellar & Freddie Prinze Jr both blew up in 1997 with both of their first lead movie roles being in the hit I Know What You Did Last Summer. Freddie went on to star in the sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer & after starring in several teen movies and rom coms, like She's All That & Boys & Girls in the late 90’s, he cemented himself as a heartthrob, featuring on teen girls bedroom walls around the world. But Sarah’s success eclipsed even Freddie’s heart throb status, as also in 1997 she took on the mantle of Buffy Summers in the massively successful pop culture phenomenon Buffy The Vampire Slayer. After a wildly successful show and a string of further movie hits in the 90’s, like Cruel Intentions, it seemed as though the newly married Prinze's were unstoppable by the early 2000’s. But Sarah Michelle Gellar & Freddie Prinze Jr took a very different path, they didn’t disappear like many 90’s teen and young adult stars, they didn’t go on to massive super stardom like some of their peers & they also didn’t use their relationship as a marketing tool or to cash in.
