Why Should People Give a Shit About Design? Part II
Manage episode 523581398 series 3699049
Welcome back to Bad Words Good Buildings, hosted by Leah Solk and Yuliya Ilizarov. This is a podcast where two smart women shoot the shit about the design and construction industry.
In this episode we continue the discussion around why design is important in all our lives and how we are all deserving of access to good design. We think about the temporal nature of buildings throughout this episode, speaking about everything from building maintenance to industry trends.
Since we live and work in NYC, our Good Buildings for this two-part topic about the importance of design will be notable public buildings in our beloved city. In this episode we dive into the iconic Grand Central Terminal, one of the most magical spaces in Manhattan.
Leah Solk is an architect and principal of Solk Architecture.
Yuliya Ilizarov is an architect and builder, and founder and partner of Coburn Construction Management.

PS - We fact checked the construction date of Port Authority bus station. It was originally built in 1950, with a second wing added in 1979. It certainly has those disco era vibes throughout.
