In this episode, I step into one of the hardest truths I’ve had to face in my journey: the music scene in my own city, Kansas City. This is not about bitterness. This is not about cancel culture. It’s about telling the truth of what so many of us have lived but been too afraid to say out loud.

For nearly two decades, I’ve invested money, time, and trust into studios, engineers, and producers, only to find the same pattern repeating: broken promises, lost money, arrogance, and gatekeeping. I share my own story with “Joe” not to drag him down, but to shine a light on the way business gets done in KC. Because if nobody tells the truth, the next generation will suffer the same cycles we did.

But this conversation goes beyond one name. It’s about the system. It’s about the way artists are treated when they don’t fit in the clique, when they sound different, when they dare to demand respect for their art.

This episode is my record, my reflection, my stand.

Key Themes

  • The truth about KC’s broken music business practices.
  • My personal story of betrayal and being labeled “crazy” for telling the truth.
  • Why gatekeeping hurts artists and holds back the city’s growth.
  • How deposits, contracts, deadlines, and professionalism can change everything.
  • Why artists deserve respect regardless of style, sound, or popularity.

Affirmations from This Episode

  • My truth needs no permission to exist.
  • I do not fear the stories others tell about me.
  • The record of my soul is held in Divine hands.
  • I release what was stolen. I reclaim what cannot be taken: my gift.
  • I do not fear my own truth.
  • I speak. I heal. I build. I rise.

Closing Reflection

This episode is not just for me. It’s for every artist who has ever been taken advantage of, disrespected, or told to be quiet. It’s for every dreamer who has poured survival money into their art and been left empty-handed.

I’m not here to destroy, I’m here to rebuild. To remind us that truth is the only foundation worth building on.
