The Tampa Bay Rays offense takes a step back in a 3-0 loss to the Cleveland Guardians. The Rays offense had no answers for the Guardians pitching staff. The Rays only mustered 4 hits and only got 1 man into scoring position the entire game. The Guardians did not fair much better. They only managed 3 hits but capitalized off Shane Baz's mistakes in the 1st inning. 2 walks and a few softly hit singles gave the Guardians 3 runs in the inning. The would not record a baserunner for the final 7 innings of the game. Shane Baz started for the Rays and after that rocky first inning he was very good. He retired the last 16 batters he faced and struck out 7. But the first inning proved to be the difference in the game as the Rays bats could not get anything going. The Rays will try to win the series tomorrow afternoon.
