In this episode of Solid Ground host Simon O'Connor talks about the supposedly controversial removal of a book from the English curriculum for having too many Māori words. Simon points out that when you are teaching very young children a language – be it English or Māori – it pays to actually use the words of that language. He briefly discusses the closure of a book being blamed on a local church (for no good reason) before addressing New Zealand’s potential recognition of the State of Palestine as being naive and counterproductive.
