The Department of Transport issued a notice in the Government Gazette recently to clarify the conditions under which an expired licence card is still valid. The cards not only serve as a proof of a valid driver’s licence but also as a proof of identity and expires every five years. However, due to the delays caused by the regular breakdowns of the sole machine used for the printing of the cards, there is a backlog in the processing of the card applications for new drivers as well as renewals.
