Brittany L. | More than Embryos & Too Many Choices

This week, I’m joined by Brittany, a solo mom by choice who opens up about what it’s like to navigate life after having your first child through IVF—and being left with more embryos than you ever expected.

We talk about how surreal it feels when people ask if you’ll donate your embryos, and how personal and emotionally layered that question can be. Brittany and I both reflect on the grief that comes with knowing you may never meet the children you created—and the complicated reality of being in a space that celebrates donation when your heart says no.

This is a raw and honest conversation about ownership, boundaries, and how hard it is to make decisions you never thought you’d be faced with.

Solicited Advice:

This week’s listener question comes from a solo mom by choice who’s feeling overwhelmed by all the options available to her—clinics, donors, treatments, timelines—and wants to know how to move forward when everything feels like too much. We talk about getting grounded, simplifying your process, and tuning out the noise so you can follow your path, not everyone else’s.

One of the biggest reasons I started this podcast is because if you don’t know something exists, you might also struggle with knowing it’s possible. I remember when I first started looking into this path, I was literally searching single mom on purpose—just hoping to find someone else out there like me. I had no idea intentional single motherhood was a real thing people did, and for a long time, it felt like I was figuring it out on my own. But the more I learned, the more I realized there’s a whole community of us. And that’s why I’m committed to sharing these stories—to make sure no one has to wonder if this is possible or if they’re the only one thinking about it.
