Episode 3 – My Unexpected Entry Into Qigong

What happens when you follow your intuition for the first time and it makes no sense?

In this episode of This Side of Knowing, I share the story of how I stumbled into qigong... a practice I didn’t understand, didn’t want, and honestly thought was a little ridiculous. But that first step became the doorway into a whole new experience of energy, healing, and possibility.

Back in 2017, just days after my unexpected spiritual awakening, I found myself waking up at 4:30 a.m. every morning and searching online for something I couldn’t even name. That search led me to a beginner qigong video, and for the first time in my life, I started moving energy: not just in my body, but in the space around me.

I’ll take you inside those first awkward mornings at 330 pounds, sweating through movements that felt impossible… and then into the electrifying moment I realized energy is real. From there, my daily qigong practice transformed my body, gave me mental clarity, restored calm I hadn’t felt in years, and even began to reawaken an old dream I thought was gone forever: walking the Camino de Santiago.
