The first time I heard about “shooting the pier” was when Laird Hamilton did it on a monster wave in Malibu during Hurricane Marie. I missed it by a few days—and I’ve been obsessed ever since. In this episode, we dive into the history, danger, and flex of this high-risk surf maneuver: riding a wave through a pier without getting wrecked by a piling.
