The risk for teenage girls is real. Overtraining and under-fuelling are more common than most people think.

Those at highest risk are sports that value aesthetics, weight, or endurance... things like running, gymnastics, martial arts, boxing, rowing, swimming, and dance.

But with football now demanding year-round training, multiple matches, and high fitness expectations, we’re seeing more girls showing the same early warning signs — constant fatigue, missed periods, and recurring injuries.

It’s not about effort or discipline.
