Learning to Rest in God’s Love

Rest doesn’t always come easy. Our minds spin, our hearts worry, and our bodies keep moving even when our souls are crying out for peace. Yet God invites us into His love as the truest place of rest. Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). His love is not earned by striving; it is freely given.

When we rest in God’s love, we remember that we don’t have to hold everything together—He does. His love is steady when our emotions waver. His presence is near when we feel alone. “The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love” (Zephaniah 3:17).

To rest in God’s love is to lay down the pressure to perform and simply be His child. It’s choosing to breathe deeply, release our anxious thoughts, and let His truth wash over us: “Nothing can ever separate us from God’s love” (Romans 8:38-39).

Tonight, allow His love to hold you. Rest doesn’t come from doing more, but from trusting more—resting in the arms of the One who loves you perfectly.
