Welcome to The Daily Quote – a podcast designed to kickstart your day in a positive way. I'm your host, Andrew McGivern, for April 24th.
Today is Scream Day, which might just be the most cathartic holiday you've never heard of. It's a day dedicated to releasing pent-up stress, frustration, or just raw emotion through the simple, primal act of screaming. No need for finesse—just let it out. Think of it as emotional decluttering, with a bit more volume.
We all have it.. work stress, pent up frustration, anger, anxiety.
Whether it’s tariffs, crazy elections, cross streaming echo chambers, work deadlines, or just one too many Zoom calls that could’ve been emails… today is your day to let it out.
And in the spirit of that full-throttle emotional release, your quote of the day comes not from not a stoic philosopher or a timeless author, but from the 1980s synth-pop legends Tears for Fears, who once said:
"Shout, shout, let it all out. These are the things I can do without..."
This quote, like Scream Day itself, is a reminder that sometimes the healthiest thing you can do isn’t to bottle it up or pretend everything’s fine. Sometimes, you need to vocalize your frustrations....
It’s an invitation to express what weighs on you. To call out what doesn’t serve you. And to maybe scream-sing the chorus like you’re headlining your own arena tour— in the shower.
Shout, Shout. let it all out.
Honestly, that line hits harder the older you get. They weren’t just talking about heartache—they were talking about long lines at the Motor Vehicle Branch, printers that refuse to print, and people who reply-all. So, if life’s BS has been piling on lately, take a breath. Then take a cue from Scream Day and shout it out—into the wind, into a pillow, or into your favorite song. You’ll feel better, I promise. And if anyone gives you a look? Just tell them you’re celebrating. Loudly.
I had a friend who every time he was starting to get sick would roll the window down in his car and scream at the top of his lungs, I'M NOT SICK. He said he didn't hold back and just screamed with all his energy. And he claimed it worked every time.
So give it a shot. Just maybe don't do it on the train this morning or you might blow out somebody's ear drum.
That's another Daily Quote in the Can.
I'm Andrew McGivern, signing off for today. But I'll be back tomorrow, same pod time, same pod station wi482th another Daily Quote.
