Welcome to The Daily Quote – a podcast designed to kickstart your day in a positive way. I'm your host, Andrew McGivern, for April 21st. Now, before we dive into today's quote, let’s take a moment to acknowledge a quiet hero in your neighborhood—the library.
Yep, it’s Thank You for Libraries Day. The one day a year we’re officially encouraged to thank those magical buildings filled with wisdom, weirdly specific biographies, and that one guy who always falls asleep in the corner armchair. Libraries are more than just books and silence enforced by the librarian's SHHHHHHH! They are sanctuaries of curiosity, gateways to the world, and the original free Wi-Fi providers. So in honor of these knowledge fortresses, here’s today’s quote from Sidney Sheldon, who once said:
"Libraries store the energy that fuels the imagination. They open up windows to the world and inspire us to explore and achieve, and contribute to improving our quality of life."
Let that sink in for a moment. Sidney Sheldon, a man who sold over 300 million books, knew where real power lies—not in bestsellers, but in the quiet, endless shelves of a library. Libraries aren’t just about storing information—they’re about igniting imagination. They're where your mind can sprint down rabbit holes, from quantum mechanics to cake decorating, all in the same afternoon. And if you’ve ever felt stuck, uninspired, or just needed a break from your own thoughts—walking through those shelves can be like getting a jolt of creative caffeine. Except you won’t have to pay $5 for it, and nobody misspells your name on a cup. So today, if you pass by a library, maybe stop in. Say thank you. Or better yet, check something out—even if it’s just a book on how to finally finish all the books you’ve already started.
Ok, I heard that some of you may have been thinking I made up Husband Appreciation Day a couple episodes back in order to have an excuse to go to the Brewery and sample some Craft Beer. I can assure you that Husband Appreciation Day is real...
But as for my motivation for including it in that episode... well you might have hit the nail on the head there. You got me. Guilty as charged.
If the library is the best place on earth... maybe the neighborhood craft brewery is the second best? That's going to do it for this episode. I’m Andrew McGivern, signing off for today but I'll be back tomorrow, same pod time, same pod station with another Daily Quote.
