Transnet, South Africa’s state-owned freight logistics company, has undergone a significant transformation from its historical role as a national railway operator to its current form as a multifaceted entity managing rail, ports, pipelines, terminals, and engineering services. While the company has long served as the backbone of the country’s logistics network, it has also faced serious challenges over the past decade, including operational inefficiencies, leadership instability, and financial decline.
