Acts 2:42 and they devoted themselves to prayer

Devoted GK Proskahtero = to attend assiduously all the exercises to a person in prayer

HillSpr!ng will be a house of devotion… it will be devoted to prayer.

Here are five biblical reasons a church should be based on prayer:

* Jesus's Example and Teaching: Jesus Himself consistently prioritized prayer. He withdrew to pray (Luke 5:16, Mark 1:35), taught His disciples to pray (Matthew 6:9-13, Luke 11:1-4), and declared His house to be "a house of prayer" (Matthew 21:13, Mark 11:17, Luke 19:46, quoting Isaiah 56:7). His life and words demonstrate that prayer is central to God's purpose for His people and His dwelling place. If the head of the church, Jesus, was devoted to prayer, so too should His body.

NOTHING SHOWS A Dependence on God MORE THAN A LIFE OF PRAYER.

As Jesus said, "Apart from me you can do nothing" (John 15:5).

* Spiritual Warfare: The Bible teaches that believers are engaged in spiritual warfare (Ephesians 6:12). Prayer is a primary weapon in this battle. A church committed to prayer understands that spiritual breakthroughs, deliverance from evil, and the advancement of God's kingdom are often achieved through fervent, corporate prayer. When the church prays, it actively resists the schemes of the enemy (James 4:7).

* Source of Power and Miracles: All throughout Acts and the epistles they prayed, they preached and they saw miracles.

  • Cultivating Intimacy with God and Unity within the Church: Prayer fosters a deeper relationship with God, both individually and corporately.

AGAIN ACTS 2:42 - THEY PRAYED CORPORATELY.
