This program heralds in a series of new beginnings for our podcasting team. The first of these would be an episode odometer reading of an even 50 episodes. The second is another oddity of its own, a new cinema offering that we're calling Beyond the Small Screen. When this little selection comes up, our podcasters have a chance to talk about a movie that was released for a wider audience in a colossally larger theater house. This time, Becky, Jake, and Sammy the cat have chosen a 1980's classic of high fantasy and science fiction, the feature-length movie Krull. In a world light years beyond imagination, the fantasy world of Krull is being invaded by aliens known as the Slayers and their space fortress of teleporting unobtanium. When Colwyn, prince of Kingdom A, tries to wed Lyssa, princess of Realm B, their marriage alliance is interrupted and literally gate crashed by the invading E.T.'s who wound the prince and abduct his bride. This forces Colwyn to assemble a band of misfits and brigands to help in the task of locating the spawning Slayer lair through various obstacles and on the backs of fiery Clydesdales. All of this culminates in a daring dungeon crawl through the enemy stronghold and a final confrontation between the Slayers leader and Jake's childhood weapon of choice other than a lightsaber—the glaive. It's high adventure, romance, swordplay, and laser pew-pewing at its finest—the perfect way to welcome in a milestone episode.
