Thirty years ago, the worst atrocity in Europe since the Holocaust took place — the murder of more than 8,000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys at Srebrenica, by Bosnian-Serb forces.

The massacre has been formally recognised as genocide by both the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.

But even now, after the recovery of thousands of victims and war-crimes trials for a number of those responsible, some still deny that the genocide took place.

Nedzad Avdic was shot four times and left to die but miraculously is one of the few who survived the Srebrenica massacre in 1995.
