Changing Australia: Isaiah Dawe and changing the future of First Nations children in care
Manage episode 505446845 series 5428
First Nations children are over-represented in the care system. The reasons for this are complex - including intergenerational trauma from previous separations from family and culture, and the legacy of past policies of forced removal.
Isaiah Dawe spent years cycling from placement to placement in the foster care system. The way he describes it, his community, culture and identity were stripped from him.
When he was a young adult, he found his family again, and he made a decision to help other First Nations children in care change their futures for the better.
