Since Collingwood's Jasmine Garner kicked the very first goal in the AFLW in 2017, the competition has grown from eight teams to 18, in part thanks to the pioneering work of women like Debbie Lee.

Her contribution to the game as a player, coach, and leader was recognised when she was the first woman inducted into the Australian Football League's Hall of Fame.
