In this episode of the Renewed Hope After Loss podcast, Kelli talks with Ed Owens, who is the Vice President of the Grief Recovery Institute. They discuss the emotional complexities of grief, particularly in relation to first responders and the profound impact of losing a child.

Ed shares his personal journey through grief and the tools he discovered that helped him heal. The conversation emphasizes the importance of emotional honesty, the need for new tools in navigating grief, and the hope that can be found even after the deepest losses.

With a background in both military and law enforcement, Ed found it difficult to be emotionally vulnerable with those he loved. After his son tragically died, he kept hearing from other parents who've lost their kids that he could never heal his heart, that the pain would always be with him.

Ed didn't think that a child who brought so much joy would only bring pain for the rest of his life, so he set out on a mission to heal. Trying various counseling and grief programs, the only thing that ever worked was The Grief Recovery Method, and now he works with the Grief Recovery Institute.

His story is one of heartache and perseverance in the midst of grief, and is proof that there can be renewed hope after loss.

Join Kelli and Ed as they discuss healing, the grief journey, child loss, and the difficulties of having a healthy relationship with unresolved grief. Discover real tools for dealing with loss, and find hope today.
