Welcome back to Recovery Unleashed — the space where healing, high performance, and purpose collide.

In this episode, I sit down with Amanda Baker — a licensed clinical social worker, yoga psychology practitioner, poet, and one of the most soulful voices I’ve met in the therapy space. Amanda blends somatic body-based practices with traditional therapy and yoga psychology to help people break free from cycles of trauma, burnout, and overachieving

Amanda is a licensed clinical social worker and 500-hour yoga psychology teacher based in Maryland, USA. She integrates therapy, yoga, and somatics in her community Alchemize, supporting people to reclaim their authenticity and step out of the loop of survival patterns..

Together, we dive into:

⭐ The trauma behind overachievement — why so many high performers are actually running on old wounds.

⭐ How burnout isn’t about doing too much, but about doing it for the wrong reasons.

⭐ Why therapy can sometimes reinforce performance and perfectionism — and how somatics can change that.

⭐ The role of the nervous system in driving patterns of striving, productivity, and survival.

⭐ The addiction of achievement — and how to shift into purpose-driven energy that fuels rather than drains you.

⭐ Our shared belief that healing isn’t about hierarchy — it’s about creating safety, regulation, and trust so people can access their own wisdom.

This conversation is raw, funny, deeply human, and full of truth. If you’ve ever felt trapped in the cycle of striving, performing, and burning out — this one is for you. I have had so much fun with Amanda, we’re now diving deeper into work together so you can be sure there will be a follow up podcast from this. (Make sure you subscribe)

If you’re an overachiever running on empty, this episode will change the way you see yourself.
