We all should be mindful that you have not lost if you are still running. A setback is a new opportunity just to do better. Doing better requires a consistent and continual evaluation of what is possible. Better is also a decision. To learn, one must accept they don't know. There is a slogan that states 'What's understood need not be explained.' Understanding is the key. Doing better requires we know better, which means we must learn better; to learn better, we need better teachers. In recovery, the best teachers have lived experience. To have been through something indicates you know something. Right or wrong. In life, you will learn what to and what not to do. To teach something, you have been through something. This may be the very reason why you were taken through a particular situation, so that you can teach it to others. Life is informational; you will learn one way or another. Life teaches us to do better or die. You cannot keep making the same mistake over and over again. The consequences get more and more severe with each bad decision we make. Mistakes are followed by an opportunity to do better. Bumps in the road are followed by course corrections. Opportunities to get it right and recover. To bounce back. Straiten up and fly right. Setbacks are necessary to see that we need to drive better, correct ourselves. The opportunity to correct ourselves keeps us from driving off the road and dying. Listen as Trent relates his feelings on facing setbacks in recovery.
Recovery is a process of decisions.
