Marriage is a union of two separate lives under the umbrella of unity, where two plans for life become one. Where the inclusionary spirit must exist when drafting the all-for-one plan of the marrying parties, a marriage is a living entity and requires the respect and nurturing cohesiveness of both parties if the union is to stand the test of time or the sandstorms of life. Marriage requires the give and take of humble submission and willing forgiveness. Marriage in recovery presents unique circumstances. Circumstances that force a decision to accept the right of every human to recover or not. For this, we are reminded that recovery is a decision to live and not die. Not everyone recovers; some choose not to recover, and that is their decision. Know one can make that decision for them. In a relationship, one must make the decision to stay or not, and that is the only decision one can make; you cannot force recovery on anybody. Listen as Trent shares his experiences on the question of marriage in recovery.
